Let us introduce ourselves. We are Adam and Rory Singer, co-owners of Athens Fitness and MMA (home of The HardCore Gym) and the head instructors of our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program. We offer BJJ instruction in a controlled environment that is conducive to learning for participants of all skill levels from novice to expert to everyone inbetween.
Here at Athens Fitness and MMA, we are confident that we offer the most comprehensive BJJ program in the area. We are the only gym in Athens to feature three Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts and a competitive BJJ team that travels across the Southeast participating in various tournaments.
Nationally prominent groups like NAGA, the North American Grappling Association have hosted the regionally competitive touraments our BJJ team has attended. Our team has participated in other premier tournaments including the Copa America Submission Grappling Championships, Poderoso and the Lutador Challenge.
"I have been grappling for some years now and out of all the gym's which I have been a part of I have yet to train anywhere which possesses a level of professionalism, camaraderie, comprehensive training, or wide array of talent and training partners commiserate with The Hardcore Gym.
Since I began training here, my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu game has soared to new heights while at the same time I am able to also hone my skills in striking, wrestling, and clinch. I have competed in NAGA as well as Lutador and other grappling tournaments and since joining HardCore I have gone from the beginner division all the way to expert.
Those who have been in the sport for a period of time know that good Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instruction is hard to find, and even if you do find it, it is very rare that that same gym will also offer top notch mixed martial arts and kickboxing; you will find it all at HardCore.
Masters Rory and Adam, and the rest of HardCore are not only superb instructors but also fantastic people who treat their members more like family than anything else, and I am proud to be a part of the HardCore team."

One of the most impressive aspects of our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program is the lineage from which it derives. Brazilian martial artist, Helio Gracie, founded the Brazilian Jiu Jistu style of fighting over 75 years ago. He raised his nephew Rolls Gracie and passed down the craft to him. Rolls Gracie gained fame in America as a practitioner of BJJ and awarded a BJJ black belt to Roberto “Jacare” Cavalcanti, one of only six men Rolls Gracie awarded a BJJ black belt to prior to his death while hang gliding.
Maintaining the tradition, Cavalcanti trained one of the pioneering UFC fighters, Roberto Traven, in the Brazilan Jiu Jitsu style of fighting. Among his many accomplishments, Master Traven was the 1999 Absolute Champion at the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championships. It was Traven who awarded us with our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belts in April 2009. Making our BJJ program a mere four individuals away from the founder.
"I have known both Rory and Adam Singer for over 4 years. For me it is an honor to have them both in my team. I am very glad to graduate them as my black belt. For me it is a real pleasure to have them as a friend and team mate."

"Hi, my name is Mike Stanley. I've been training at The HardCore Gym for six years. When I started, I weighed 225 pounds and thought I knew some Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. After ten minutes into the first night of training I realized I really didn't know much BJJ.
The instructors at HardCore took a sincere interest in me to guarantee my success. They began to teach me a "building block" structure to learn and retain fundamental grappling skills. Five months later I had lost 25 pounds of fat and my cardio had increased tremendously.
After several years of training I realized I had the stamina of the twenty year olds I was training with. I'm 40 years old and in the best shape of my life!
Thanks, HardCore!"

Don't allow yourself to spend hours a day on the couch wasting your life away. Don't exacerbate your lack of productivity by ignoring our offer. Don't allow yourself to go through life without the confidence YOU DESERVE.
Do something about it TODAY! Change your life for the better! We GUARANTEE that our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program here at Athens Fitness and MMA WILL help! Do NOT hold yourself back by hesitating to call!
One of the primary benefits of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is it allows smaller, weaker opponents to defend themselves against larger, stronger assailants. This is possible because of the emphasis BJJ places on the proper use of leverage and technique. Grappling and submission wrestling are two of the most critical aspects of BJJ fighting that Gracie emphasized. Mastering the various takedowns, submission holds, and positions of no-gi submission wresting will keep you safe in the event a fight goes to the ground.
"After spending nearly two years at The HardCore Gym, the impact on my life was evident. Not only did I develop a love for a new sport, I also developed love for a new family. The motivating environment allowed me to increase my fitness level, which created the balance in my life I was looking for. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) training I received there allowed me to develop fundamentals which provide a solid foundation for my game today.
The BJJ training increased my knowledge of self-defense allowing me to feel safer when traveling abroad. Just over a year and half later, I received my blue belt which was a great reward for the hard work I invested at The HardCore Gym. Two months later, I competed in my first grappling tournament where I won the intermediate division of NAGA. The relationships you create with the instructors and training partners at the gym create a closeness that is difficult to replicate.
The instruction at the gym is adapted for your level and ability, creating a great training environment. I would highly recommend The HardCore Gym to anyone looking to get in shape, get motivated, and/or train BJJ at any level."

"Rory and Adam Singer have both donated their time to help police recruits prepare themselves for the street. I am proud to have both guys come by and help out with the defensive tactics program...their instruction and MMA skills are second to none. The main thingI like about having the guys come by is that they are more than willing to prove what works and what doesn't; which is rare. I'm happy to call the guys my friends and coaches."

Don't sit around the house bored every evening, complaining that you’d be healthier if there were just more hours in the day. Don't drag yourself and everybody around you down by not being proactive!
"I joined The HardCore Gym at 40 years old looking for a fun way to get myself in better shape. With no prior grappling experience, I really had no expectations about what their Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program would be like.
As a fan of mixed martial arts, I was already aware of the gym's reputation for producing world champion fighters. It didn't take long to see why - the BJJ program is run by three black belts and several other advanced level (purple and brown belt) instructors with years of experience, and whose past trainers and training partners are literally a "who's who" of the BJJ world.
Students are taught first and foremost the basics of BJJ defense and offense in a patient, friendly learning environment. The training I received helped me win my division at the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) National Championships after only five months, and I've lost nearly 30 pounds and feel stronger than ever.
Whether you are interested in MMA, BJJ, or just getting in better shape, I'm convinced there is no better place and I look forward to training at The Hardcore Gym and competing under that banner for years to come."

“My career enables me to travel quite a bit, and in the past six years, my travels have allowed me to train for a short time in 12 separate Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gyms across the country. While every gym has its own strength, I could not be more fortunate to call Athens Fitness and Mixed Martial Arts my home gym- it is by far my favorite environment in which to train, and my growth as a grappler is fastest when I train here.
Athens Fitness and Mixed Martial Arts supports athletes at all levels in their BJJ careers, and there is a place here for the world-class female or male grappler and a place for the guy trying to get rid of his beer gut and have an awesome time doing it. I could not recommend it more highly.”

"As a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Capoeria and a MMA fighter, I find The HardCore Gym to be a great training facility. My name is Junior Assuncao. I began training at The HardCore Gym to prepare for my fight in Brazil this past March. Being long time friends with Masters Rory and Adam Singer, I knew they would know exactly what one needs for a training camp.
As a fighter, I have trained at many pronounced gyms around the world. More specifically, when preparing for one of my U.F.C. fights, my camp was at Black House in Brazil. Even though this was a facility with many big stars, it didn't have the well-rounded quality of The HardCore Gym. The coaches have a organized program where there is an unspoken understanding that when you are training for a fight, the guys help you. Then when the guys are training for a fight, you help them. So with that method, every night there are plenty of training partner that one can count on to show up. I'm very happy with the my training progress and with this level of coaching I am ready for another shot in the UFC.
I would like to say thank you to all my coaches at The HardCore Gym and my training partners! I look forward to seeing you guys at practice soon!
Junior Assuncao (UFC Veteran, BJJ Black Belt)"I was introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2009, and fell in love with it instantly. I have been a member of The HardCore Gym for a year and a half, the time in which my grappling game has improved dramatically. The HardCore Gym has helped me develop my game through instruction as Masters Rory and Adam constantly take time to evaluate and troubleshoot things that need improvement. I also believe that frequently competing in grappling tournaments has helped my grappling performance and overall skill, which I have been able to do so many times with the financial help of The Hardcore Gym. Overall I am pleased with the results that I have seen since I began grappling at The HardCore Gym, and I’m very confident that I will get the same type of results when I start competing in MMA.
The HardCore Gym has the most organized program in Ga. The schedule is followed accurately by both the students and the staff which assures the attendance of quality training partners which is one of the most important aspects for individual progress. Lastly The HardCore Gym staff is very meticulous about providing same level training partners to students of all levels, which retains students and lets them advance at a comfortable pace, and I would say is one of the shortcomings of many other gyms in Ga."
Since I began training Jiu Jitsu at The Hardcore Gym I have competed in 6 tournaments, I have won 4 of them and came in as the runner up at the other 2. The first 2 tournaments were at the intermediate level, and the other 4 at the advanced level.
Lutador Advanced 2011 1st place"The BJJ program at The Hardcore Gym is one of the best that I have ever been a part of. The coaches are very knowledgeable and patient. They take notice of your individual abilities and help you work with them and improve according to your style. Also, The Hardcore Gym contains some of the best grapplers in the state something you can't find anywhere else. This gym has treated me like family and I owe all of my accomplishments to the great coaches Master Adam, Master Rory, and the amazing training partners at The Hardcore Gym. Together they have helped me evolve into the grappler that I am today."
