Are you looking for something to increase your child's confidence, self-esteem, discipline and respect for others?
Don't allow your son or daughter to become another bullying statistic. Read below to see how Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Martial Arts CAN HELP!
Hello, I'm Master Rory Singer, one of the co-owners here at Athens Fitness and Mixed Martial Arts and the head instructor of our children's program. We strive to offer the best instruction for your children to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) in a safe and controlled learning environment.
We teach BJJ as the main component of our children's MMA program. Otherwise known as "the gentle art," BJJ allows a smaller, possibly weaker individual to successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger aggressor. By simply using leverage and proper technique one can do so without causing harm to themselves or their attacker.

Our instructors here at The HardCore Gym in Athens, Georgia, emphasize sound fundamentals and basic technique to provide an excellent foundation for your children to eventually receive their black belt through our youth programs.
There's a single, common goal at Athens Fitness and MMA in our children's program: we want EVERY ONE of our students to one day earn their BJJ Black Belt. In addition to proper fundamental instruction, our instructors, quality teammates themselves, strive to instill values in YOUR child that will help them become excellent teammates in the future.
Unlike some little league sports, our instructors focus on all of our children rather than playing "daddy ball" or catering to the most gifted athlete. Learning self defense and gaining self-confidence doesn't require any natural talent. It merely requires repetition and hard work.
Don't allow your child to be another statistic. Don't encourage your child's social awkwardness. Don't allow your children to go through life as a loner.

"At The HardCore Gym, MMA is more than just another class. Before Chase joined the MMA class at The HardCore Gym, he was a kid that just did not care to get out of the house. At the time, Chase was not very outgoing when it came to physical activities. A good friend of his talked him into trying out the MMA class and within a few weeks of attending, you could start to see real positive changes. He has since gained more self-confidence and has become more conscientious in staying healthy. He has greater interest in physical activity and his overall health and well being. Master Rory and his staff are great. They are very encouraging and work hard in making the classes both educational and fun. I believe each student benefits greatly because of Master Rory's positive reinforcement. This is a great experience for Chase and he looks forward to every class. He has truly been motivated through his experience with this class and its group of coaches and I recommend it to anyone that wants to learn the fundamentals of MMA. Thanks Master Rory for sharing your knowledge, skills, and leadership with our son." -Joyce |

Don't let your child turn into "that" kid! Don't let your child sit around bored every evening with idle hands! Don't let your child turn to unhealthy alternatives like television, fast food, and video games!

"Our kids, Everett, 8, and Cate, 7, have been taking The HardCore Gym's Junior Amateurs class since the beginning of this year. Not only do they love the class, it has been beneficial to them in many ways. Our daughter Cate, though smart with a winning personality, has never had the best balance or coordination. In fact, we used to joke that she was "vertically challenged," because she had such trouble staying on her feet! After just a few short months of being at The HardCore Gym twice a week, she was like a new kid, physically! She does things now like frog-jump across the room at home without falling down. We went on challenging hikes this summer in the mountains, with no spills. She never would have been able to do this before. Even her grandparents noticed the difference. Another thing I'd like to mention is that Cate has asthma, and Master Rory and Coach Luke have been very understanding about that, and really keep an eye out for her to make sure she's ok with her breathing. In her own words, Cate's favorite thing about the Gym is "beating up the blue man!" Our son Everett really enjoys the Gym, too. He enjoys learning all the different holds and moves, and sometimes he and his sister will even practice them at home. It's been a great, consistent, positive thing in his life, and a way to blow off some steam after school. Everett is kind of small for his age, so we're hoping that in a couple of years he'll be able to defend himself if he ever needs to with the things he is learning. In his own words, Everett's favorite thing about the Gym is "dodgeball and arm-bars!" It's a great program because they mix it up a lot to keep the kids interested. In addition to jiu-jitsu moves, they do obstacle and agility courses, play dodgeball, use the foam swords, and do exercises like squats and push-ups. Also, it teaches them respect. We highly recommend it!" -Chris and Betsy Riser |

Dear Master Rory and Adam Singer I wanted to take a moment to share with you my son's experience with The HardCore Gym's Mixed Martial Arts Program for Kids. Paul is 10 and has enjoyed other sports such as soccer, football and swimming. But since Paul started in the Jr. Amateurs class at HardCore, he has shown more enthusiasm about this experience than all the others. He has enjoyed making new friends his age at HardCore and we have found the atmosphere to be safe, encouraging, sportsman-like, family friendly and fun! Paul was engaged from the beginning and after each class he can't wait to go back for more. We are thrilled that this is a sport Paul can participate in year round. The variety of scheduling options available make it easy for us to work in MMA classes without sacrificing family time, homework or his favorite activity, exploring the woods near our house! As parents, Marion and I couldn't think of a better group of adult role models for our son. The character, patience and leadership exemplified by your instructors are the qualities any parent wants for their girl or boy. In reflecting over the summer and into this new school year, I have seen Paul's self esteem and confidence begin to grow, as well as his respect for others. These are traits Paul is learning, in part, from his experiences in The HardCore Gym's Kids Program. I highly recommend The HardCore Gym of Athens to any family seeking a challenging yet fun sport for their children. Sincerely, |

"My 7-year-old son has been taking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Self-Defense at The HardCore Gym for a while. Since being there, he has improved in endurance, co-ordination, and agility just to name a few. Master Rory is great with kids and gives them the individual attention they need to allow them to maximize their abilities. The HardCore Gym is always clean and I do not have to worry about diseases. The things he learns at HardCore will help him throughout his life." -Kathryn Collins |
